Kerry Spokesguy Is Not a D&D Nerd

Davidwade CQ Weekly reports that Sen. John Kerry staffer Ted Chiodo...

...tried to liven up a sleepy recess week by posting a flyer in the Russell Senate Office Building announcing the formation of the Senate Staffer Dungeons and Dragons Club — and giving the phone number of his boss, Kerry’s Deputy Chief of Staff [and longtime spokesguy] David Wade (right), as "the Dragonmaster."

Wade knew nothing of the prank until CQ called to check his Dragonmaster bona fides. His immediate reply was, “Shut up” — and then a confession that he couldn’t narrow the field of likely perpetrators: “I anger people on a daily basis.”

Soon enough, though, Chiodo’s colleagues gave up his identity...And, unlike the Massachusetts senator himself, Chiodo adopted a posture of instant contrition. “I just meant it as a prank, but, obviously it was not funny at all,” he said. “I apologize. It was stupid. . . . I just hope I keep my job.” Wade assures the fretful Kerry-watching masses that the assistant has no reason to worry...
