Gov. Paterson Snags Former Clinton Flack Peter Kaufmann

The NY Times reports, that Risa B. Heller, the departing Communications Direc tor for Go v. David Paterson (D-NY), will be replaced by Peter Kaufmann, a former Navy intelligence officer who has worked as a Press Secretary for Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton while she was a U.S. Senator. Kaufmann currently is a Vice President in the New York Office of the Glover Park Group, a consulting and lobbying company.

According to his biography, Kaufmann "was a geopolitical analyst specializing in the Pacific region and was deployed twice aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Prior to joining the military, Kaufmann served as Press Secretary for Senator Clinton. In the 2000 election cycl e, Kaufmann was Press Secretary for the 2000 New York Coordinated Campaign and he was also previously a Deputy Press Secretary at the Democratic National Committee.
