Hauser, Pompei Land New Posts

Ah Sp AP reporting that U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns has announced the hire of Ann Marie Hauser as his new communications director.  The Nebraska Republican also thanked his outgoing press secretary, Sarah Pompei, who is taking a new job as press secretary for gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman.  Johanns called Hauser "a great asset to my team with her wealth of communications experience."

Hauser previously served as the director of public affairs for U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez. Before that, she was a spokeswoman at the U.S. Treasury Department, advising top officials on international communications strategy.  She has also worked as a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee and was the Iowa Communications Director for Bush-Cheney 04.

Pompei, a California native, was Communications Director on Johanns campaign before becoming his Press Secretary in the Senate.  She is a graduate of the University of California Berkley and also served as Deputy Press Secretary on the Romney for President campaign from 07-08.

In announcing her hire, Tucker Bounds, Meg Whitman's Deputy Campaign manager said, "Sarah has top-notch campaign experience in some of the most competitive races in the country.  As Meg begins articulating her vision for A New California, our campaign couldn’t ask for a more effective communicator to have on board.”
