Congressman Geoff Davis (R-KY) is seeking a Press Secretary. The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communications skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities include: drafting/distributing press releases and media advisories, writing a weekly column, weekly e-newsletter, development and coordination of all franked materials, drafting regular proactive correspondence, planning and preparation for tele-town hall meetings, website maintenance, preparation of talking points and remarks, establishing and maintaining strong relations with local media and executing an aggressive earned media campaign. Additional projects will be assigned from time to time. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude and be a team player. Corry Schiermeyer, previously at Dittus Communications has been named Deputy Director of Communications at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Schiermeyer has served in the Bush Administration from 2001 to 2007 in various communications roles. She served as the National Security Council's Director for Global Communications from 2005-2007, the Deputy Associate Director of the White House Office of Global Communications from 2004-2005, the director of the U.S. Department of Energy press office from 2001-2004 and the Acting Director of Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration. Schiermeyer also worked as a reporter for USA Radio Network in Dallas, Texas from 1997-1998 and holds a B.A. in broadcast journalism from the University of North Texas. (PF tipster)
PF has learned that three former Potomac Flacks, Reed Dickens, Ben Porritt, and Peter Watkins, are behind the promotion of a new film coming soon to a theatre near you. The film, Article VI: Faith.Politics.America, is an intense discussion of the role of faith in politics and explores the history of religious tests in America. Much discussed in political circles, the film debuted last week to standing room only crowds in Orange County, Atlanta, and Salt Lake City. More screenings are planned this month across the country, including Washington D.C. (date and time to be posted soon).
Dickens, former White House Assistant Press Secretary, and Porritt, former Press Secretary to Maj. Leader Tom Delay, run a high-octane PR shop out in California called Outside Eyes. Watkins, a media mogul and former Deputy Press Secretary to the First Lady and Spokesman in the Office of Media Affairs at The White House now lives in Salt Lake City and is the founder of Watkins Global Strategies.

Vince Morris, the well-known former Communications Director for U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) and DC Mayor Anthony Williams, has begun working at Patton Boggs as the Director of Media Relations and Communications. Vince was formerly a reporter at the New York Post and the Washington Times, and has also found himself on The Hill's 50 Most Beautiful list. Congrats Vince on the new gig -- well deserved! It's always good to know when one of our own moves up to the executive, corporate management level - just like Charles Dean Connor, the former Sr. VP for Communications & Marketing at the Red Cross national headquarters.
