Democratic Communicators Network Announces New Board of Directors

DC Net Today the Democratic Communicators Network (DCNet), the professional association for Democratic House and Senate press and media staffers, announced its new board of directors: 

-          Maureen Beach, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD)

-          Ellis Brachman, House Democratic Caucus

-          James Gleeson, Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA)

-          Brigit Helgen, Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Center

-          Adam Hodge, Congressman Sanford Bishop (D-GA)

-          Will Jenkins, U.S. Senator Jim Webb (D-VA)

-          Meghan Pennington, U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) 

-          Clark Pettig, Congressman Gary Peters (D-MI)

-          Emily Spain, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-DE)

-          Matt Thornton, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)

DCNet brings communicators together to share ideas, learn new skills, brainstorm strategies, and network with others to strengthen Democratic message making. Hundreds of communicators from around the Hill regularly participate in DCNet's networking and professional development activities, including:

    * Mentoring for new communications staff 

    * Training Seminars on essential communications skills 

    * Distinguished Speakers providing inside access to the nation's top communicators

    * Roundtable Discussions to share practical press ideas and experiences

    * Networking Events to bring together flacks from on and off the Hill

    * Democratic Communicators Handbook and other collaborative, online resources

All events are planned by volunteer committees of communications staffers.  (PF tipster)

    Blain K. Rethmeier - Contributor
    Blain K. Rethmeier is currently the Senior Vice President for Public Affairs for the American Insurance Association (AIA). Rethmeier joined AIA from the White House where he served as Special Assistant to the President for Communications and directed communications for the National Economic Council and Homeland Security Council. Prior to joining the White House, Rethmeier served as Press Secretary for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
